Kuno Prey
Kuno Prey is one of the most influential European designers working at the intersection of craftsmanship and innovation. As co-founder of the Faculty of Design and Arts at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, he shaped a new form of design education that combines intellectual and manual work, experimentation, and precision. He became known, among other things, for his "toolbox system" which enables design students to work flexibly and intuitively with materials and tools. This project has received numerous international awards. His designs are characterized by functional clarity, the conscious use of sustainable materials, and a deep appreciation for traditional craft techniques. Prey regularly collaborates with companies, manufacturers, and research institutions to develop new production processes and sustainable material cycles. His teaching focuses on creative problem-solving: design as a method for making the world more understandable, sustainable, and humane.
