How GENIA works
in the Classroom
GENIA supports teachers in integrating external expertise into their lessons in a meaningful and accessible way – dialog-based, flexible, and grounded in pedagogical guidance.
1. Choose an Expert
If you are not yet sure where an external perspective could meaningfully enrich your teaching,
it can be worthwhile to explore this question together with your students.
You may already be working on a topic or focus area that could be deepened and viewed from a new
perspective through dialogue with an external expert.
GENIA provides access to an international network of experts. Choose a person whose
experience and perspective can meaningfully enrich your classroom.
2. Prepare the Encounter
A meaningful encounter needs preparation. This preparation can take place together with students, enabling them to enter the exchange with their own questions and expectations. GENIA supports teachers with didactic preparation through pedagogical impulses, guiding questions, and materials, that help embed the encounter thoughtfully into classroom practice.

3. Experience the Dialogue
Encounters with experts usually take place virtually, and when possible also face to face, and are designed as open dialogues. Students ask questions, engage in conversation, and gain authentic insights into real-life and professional contexts. The focus goes beyond subject-specific knowledge to include personal experiences, decision-making processes, doubts, detours, and sources of motivation. This creates a learning experience, that extends beyond traditional classroom teaching.
4. Deepen and Reflect
After the encounter, the impulses can be revisited, reflected on, and further developed together in class. Depending on subject, age group, and available time, this process can take many different forms. GENIA also provides accompanying materials and pedagogical support for this phase.
